Your feet carry the whole weight of your body all day long. Beyond that mechanical job, though, foot reflexology holds that every area of the sole connects directly to an organ, a gland or a system of the human body. Pressure in the right place can have effects a long way from where it is applied.
At Baan Pho we offer Thai foot massage, a technique that combines reflexology with the roots of traditional Thai medicine, working both the physical structure of the foot and the energy pathways that run through it.
What exactly is foot reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapy built on the idea that the foot holds a miniature map of the body. The big toe corresponds to the head and the brain; the inner arch, to the spine; the heel, to the lower back and pelvis. Applying pressure to these reflex points aims to stimulate the matching organs and systems, support circulation and release accumulated tension.

How it differs from an ordinary foot massage
An ordinary foot massage sets out to relieve local muscle tension: pain in the arch, stiffness in the heel, general fatigue. Reflexology goes a step further: it uses the foot as a door into the whole organism.
The Thai version also uses wooden sticks and pressure techniques particular to the Nuad Bo Rarn tradition. The result combines immediate relief in the foot with a regulating effect on the nervous system that is felt throughout the body.
Who does it suit?
Foot reflexology is particularly useful for people who:
- Spend many hours on their feet or walking
- Have chronic tension in the neck or lower back
- Have circulation problems in the legs
- Are after deep relaxation without intense manipulation
- Want to work on stress from a different angle
Since it needs no special preparation and is entirely non-invasive, it is an ideal session both for anyone who has never had a massage and for those who already know Thai massage and want something to go alongside it.
